Tony and I, Peter, Neil and Jenn along with Tony's mom are in New Braunsfels enjoying floating down the river.
Tony has already made a trip home to check things out. We had 5' of water on the bottom floor of our condo, but the refrigerators are cleaned out, and we had no damage to the upper levels. He saw lots of devastation, but we will return as soon as there is running water. I can do no electricity but not NO water!!!
I saw Joe Denke with Matt Lauer on the Today Show. I talk to Cindy Ridens daily. She and her family are headed to Bev Berneathy's in Texas City from New Orleans the last time we spoke. Angela Ramirez, my aide, went to Sugarland with her son, so she is fine as well.
See y'all when we all get back -- in the mean time take care,

I used to have a great house in Crystal Beach, but it(house) has decided that it didn't like that particular location, and moved on...thinking that it would be nice if it returned. It was a bit upset with its interior designer-Hurricane Ike. So, if you happen to see it floating by, please ask it to at least return something to us.
Right now we are in Onalaska, but we are trying to get to Winnie so we can be closer to Crystal Beach. We found a house in Winnie, but we have to install a floor, kitchen, and several other things, but it is all we can find right now that will put us somewhere close to our community and family. One more thing, want to buy an invisible house?

I started out in Conroe with my cousin. We lost power during the storm so we moved to San Antonio and am now in League City for the time being. Went to the island this morning. My house got three feet of water in it and all is ruined inside. Our family business, the "Apache" is a total loss. My elderly parents lost their room and consequently, their home. Heard from Eva Purcell. She is well and in Dallas. She lost everything. Cherly Roy is in Marshall, Tx and doing ok. My prayers go out to all of you my Ball High family.

This is Melinda reproting for Puig. She is with out power but safe and with her folks in Conroe along with the critters and Robert. They were able to hit the island yesterday for the brief admittance. They were luckier than most as was I and most with in the seawall to say M and from 45thish to 8thish. The seawall definatly proved its worth. She did say that the people returning for the look and see were obnoxious as a whole and thinking, a good portion, only of them selves; breaking guidlines set for safety, driving in emergency lanes at unsafe speeds and even taking supplies off the island meant for those still there. Those people should be ashamed of themselves because there are so many who just want to grab a few things and head out to a more permanent place and now will not be aloud on. Michelle's Birthday is Friday so give her a shout if you get the chance.

My sister who lived there (Pat Flores) evacuated and is now in San Antonio. I live in Spring and have been watching TV on how no one can get on the island to check property. My sister is Alice Martinez so that might help you remember me. Anyway please e-mail me to tell me if we still have a family house in Galveston. I am so sad to see the island in its current condition. I am glad I went to Ball vs. LaMarque to remember the island before the storm. Hi, ya'll. My husband Larry, my son Ryan, his fiancee Lindsay Layer who works at the Magnet (wedding was supposed to Oct. 4 at Garten Verein) and I are in Houston with son Cary and fiancee. The couches are comfy and so far everyone is still speaking. We also did the look/leave and in the 1.5 hours we had we discovered only one room had water. Two more inches and the first floor would have been much damper! L&R lost part of their roof but no rising water. The wedding dress is now in Houston dry cleaner so we have high hopes it will again be white. Thank you, Lyda Ann, for letting us in. Also, thank you Board and Admin for the paycheck, the encouraging words and optimism. We're ready to be back with the Tor family. Cary's home number is 713-661-6762 and my cell is 409-599-9575. Matt and I are in Ponchatoula, La with our daughter. Matt evacuated the CMC hospital at UTMB on Thursday night. He tried to leave Crystal Beach on Friday morning. However, a huge wave crashed over the dunes right onto HW 87 and into his truck. He was able to keep the truck afloat and three children and three other men got into the back of his truck. They floated for over an hour before the Coast Guard saved all seven from the water. God Bless the C. G.! God be with all our friends in Galveston, C.B. and Port Bolivar.

Jimmy, Matt and I are fine and staying with friends in Texas City. We have had friends go by to check our house and it is still standing, however, no one has gone in to check for water damage. I am sure we will have water lines in the house. My husbands company truck is in our garage and again, I am sure it will have water damage. My husband went back to work at BP Wednesday and will have lots of work to keep him busy. I checked on an apartment here and will be hearing back from them. I love hearing from everyone and take care. See ya'soon. My cell is 409)789-1222.

Hello Ball Family! This article is in the Galveston Daily News posted by one of our students. It really touched my heart! Read Below
Young folks miss Galveston, too
As a 15-year-old resident of beautiful Galveston, it’s very hard to cope with something like this. The only form of communication to friends that are spread all over the state of Texas is text messages (whenever I place my phone in a certain position to get service) or MySpace.
I, like almost all the other young residents, only want to go home and be reunited in the crowded hallways of Ball High School. I always wondered why people come from all over the country to look at the brown water of the Gulf of Mexico, but I must say — I wish I could see it and swim in it right now.
I miss everything about Ball High and the city; from the upcoming Geometry test that we missed due to the hurricane; and to the always-crowded checkout lines of Wal-Mart.
I know for certain I took our island for granted thinking the devastation of what happened in New Orleans would never happen to us, but I was very wrong. As I watch the news and look at pictures on the Internet, what I see is unreal. This can’t be my island.
It’s time to wake up from this horrible dream and get back to the lives we had before Ike came. Back to the long tiresome lines of Wal-Mart and back to the long lectures from teachers and the hard tests that come after them.

Today is Wednesday, I went to Galveston to check out my apartment, It is a total loss, water was 4 feet and still standing one of the three bed rooms. I tried to feel what it was like when I saw others on TV who lost, but the real feelings comes when you face it yourself.
Well we must move on, but where. Only God know my destination, and I must rely on him, because I can not do it by myself.

I visited the Ball campus today (9/25) and found the building to be in surprisingly good shape. Generators are running to de-humidify and light the school. The only places I saw with damage were the lower level classrooms on the Ave. P side. Carpets and some sheetrock had already been removed and workers were hard at it with repair. My room, 1040, had no damage and it appeared the first floor was in good shape. Hopefully, when power is restored, we'll be able to get back to work soon afterward. Thanks to all of the workers and law enforcement personel in Galveston who are really doing all they can to get the island up and running!!!

I have been staying in Puerto Rico with my mother since Sept. 11th after my father's passing on Sept. 10th. I re-booked my flight back to Houston for Saturday, June 27th. My husband, John, stayed in Galveston. John and a few other essential Rosenberg Library staff members took shelter at the library during the storm, but the library flooded and has extensive damage. John (library director) and staff members are currently working out of our house organizing the repairs to the Rosenberg Library.
We were fortunate and our house at 4811 Sherman suffered little damage and no flooding; electricity was restored on Wednesday. I feel for all who have lost their homes or have to deal with extensive damage. Several of the Rosenberg library staff are staying with John at our home because they lost everything. My cell phone number is 409-789-5828. I will get home Saturday evening. Let me know if I can help; even if you just need a little break in a home that is not upside down! Love and God Bless You, Gloria Augelli

Claudia is in need of good workers for hire to come do demolition work; all the A/C and furnace duct work underneath her house must come out as it got ruined and is getting mold. Claudia also needs help hauling all the flooded appliances out of the house to place on the curb for city to pick up. To make matters worse, a wrecker truck ran into a car behind hers and that car smashed into Claudia's car. Her car may be a total loss, too. Caudia's number is 256-1788.
